Report: Manchester United Step Up Chase For Atletico Madrid Star Sergio Aguero

Manchester United are wasting no time in the transfer market, with the club now set to intensify negotiations for Sergio Aguero, the Atletico Madrid striker.

With Antonio Valencia all but signed, United have already begun the process of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez. Now, according to the Daily Mail, Sir Alex Ferguson has turned his sights to Aguero.

His first target had been Karim Benzema, but with Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas playing hardball, not to mention Real Madrid's reported interest, Ferguson has decided not to wast any more time with that move.

Instead, the Scot has decided to concentrate solely on landing 'El Kun'. To that end, Man United are ready to table a whopping €52 million bid.

Aguero's agent had recently stated that he would not be leaving the Vicente Calderon, a stance supported by the club. However, the Red Devils are hoping this massive bid will force both parties into a change of heart.

Chelsea are also said to be in the hunt for the Argentine international.
