Elano Prepares For Manchester City Departure

Manchester City midfielder Elano has stated that he is prepared to leave the club if he does not see a willingness from manager Mark Hughes to keep him.

The Brazilian midfielder has reportedly been unhappy at Eastlands for the last few months, finding first team opportunities hard to come by, and is now ready to leave.

The 27-year-old has been attracting attention from Italian giants Inter in recent weeks, and it was reported that he was in talks to sign for the Serie A club, but so far, no deal has been done.

The former Santos midfielder was signed by Sven Goran Eriksson, and was one of the club's best players during the Swede's time as manager of the club.

Now though, the playmaker is preparing to depart the City of Manchester Stadium, however, he is ready to renew his contract if the club want him.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Elano said, "I had a meeting with the board and I asked about the signings they are going to make and whether there was still a place for me in the setup.

"I just asked them to be straight with me. If I can renew my contract now, I'll stay. If not, I want to leave and look for another club."

Elano is on international duty with Brazil at the moment, and refused to speak about a potential transfer.

"There are a number of things happening but now's not the moment to talk about this [because] I'm focused on Brazil."

The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder has been playing for City since 2007, and has since made 62 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals in the process.
