Stoke City striker Ricardo Fuller - who has scored six Premier League goals this season - has been arrested this morning on suspicion of driving offences.

The 29-year-old hitman has been working his way back to match fitness following a shoulder injury sustained earlier in the season, but the player was pulled over by police near the club's Michelin Sports training ground.

Early reports indicate that the player's car has been seized, as Supt Bernie O'Reilly, of Stoke-on-Trent police division, is quoted by The Sentinel as saying, "at about 9.30am this morning in Riverside Road, Trent Vale, a 29-year-old man driving a vehicle was stopped by officers.

"As a result of their enquiries, his vehicle was seized and he was arrested for driving licence and vehicle insurance offences and taken to Northern Area Custody Facility where he will be interviewed today."

An official statement, as revealed on stokecityfc.premiumtv.co.uk, read, "The club can confirm that striker Ricardo Fuller has this morning been arrested by Staffordshire Polic for a motoring offence.

We will be making no further comments at this time," it concluded.

Fuller joined the Potters in 2006 for a fee of £500,000. He has been a key figure in the club's bid for survival.
