Three Tunisian players detained and questioned on drug charges

One current player, Oussema Sellami, and two former Tunisian internationals, Ziad Jaziri and Hatem Trabelsi, are being held for questioning following a drug bust

Tunisia’s football community was rocked with the news that three Tunisian players, Club Africain’s Oussema Sellami and former internationals Ziad Jaziri and Hatem Trabelsi, were stopped in Tunis on Tuesday on drug possession, consumption, and possible trafficking charges, according to Mosaique FM.

The players are still being held by police and have reportedly been subjected to drug tests, as is standard in Tunisia in cases of this nature.

Meanwhile, infosfoot.net have since reported that Sellami’s test results have come back negative while Etoile scout Jaziri and former Ajax star Trabelsi tested positive for an unnamed substance, rumoured to be cannabis.

All three individuals have been held for further questioning and more players could be implicated in the ongoing investigation. The official results of the drug tests are expected on Thursday.
