French CFA 2 SO Chambéry Foot striker Malick Faye has been given a seven-match suspension by the France Football Federation (FFF) for fighting a player during his side’s league match against Vénisseux-Minguettes, L’Equipe said on Wednesday.

The Senegalese-born is thus out of his side’s squad for the French Cup quarterfinal clash against Ligue 2 Angers slated for March 2.

The 24-year-old scored Chambéry’s goal against Brest in the French Cup second round which Chambéry won 4-3 on penalty shootout after a 1-1 tie.

The club says it will file an appeal against the FFF ruling.

Faye has not received a call up to Senegal’s Lions of Teranga but coach Amara Traoré’s team has considered visiting his base to watch him play.
