Anderlecht have secured the services of 22-year-old defender Abdoulaye Seck, who was Senegal’s best local player in 2009 while playing for ASC Niary Tally.
Anderlecht sporting director Herman van Holsbeeck confirmed the signing to Dutch newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws on Monday.
Seck will reportedly have six months to prove himself before a regular contract could be signed with the Belgian champions. A possible three-year deal is already being tabled.
The player will attend the club’s workshop at La Manga from January 8 to 15.
“Seck is a big boy but he is still very young," Deraeve Werner, one of Anderlecht’s scouts commented. He’s the only Senegalese international who still plays in Belgium. He’s a defender who plays football. He’s got good passes. He knows how to easily get out of the back half with the ball on the feet.”
