Tanzanian league club, African Lyon has allowed Hamis Thabit and Mbwana Samatta to leave for Lisbon, Portugal on Wednesday to undergo a two week trial at Benfica FC.
The Dar es Salaam team's manager, Rahim Kangezi confirmed the departure of the duo to The Citizen.
"The two players have already secured visas and will undergo trials with Benfica FC for two weeks," Kangezi said.
Should they qualify; officials of the two teams will meet to negotiate, among other things, the package for the duo before they officially join the European team.
He said the duo's travelling costs have been jointly met by Benfica and African Lyon.
"This is another milestone for the Tanzania soccer development," he said, adding, "We want to give them (Thabit and Samatta) exposure that they need to impress European clubs as well as market our country abroad."
Kangezi said Benfica decided to call the two players for trials after watching their footage sent to the Portugal giants by African Lyon's leadership.
"I am sure they will not let us down, they have what it takes to impress any top team in Europe," he said.
