Nigerian-Born Striker Innocent Emeghara Anxious To Play For Switzerland

The Grasshopper forward says he dreams about playing for the Schweizer Nati…

Nigerian-born Swiss Super League Grasshopper striker Innocent Emeghara says he wants to play for Swiss Under 21 team after obtaining a nationality switch.

Emeghara has never received call up from Nigeria and Swiss junior team coach Pierluigi Tami has confirmed he is eyeing the young striker ahead of the 2011 European Under 21 Championship holding in Denmark, according to Swiss soccer site football.ch.

“I feel like I’m at home in Switzerland,” Emeghara said. “It'll be a dream come true if coach Pierluigi Tami sends me a call up to join the Swiss U-21 squad. But securing a spot there is getting expensive because Switzerland has so many promising young forwards at the moment. My only hope is to shine with the Grasshopper to expect an invitation.”

Emeghara has to his credit this season so far two goals and two assists.
