Philippe Troussier On Verge Of Securing Equatorial Guinea Coaching Job - Report

Equatorial Guinea is about to hire the French-born manager…

Equatorial Guinea, co-host of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations with Gabon, has been in need of a vigorous coach to prepare its team ahead of the continental showpiece.

The country’s football federation is reportedly on the verge of finalising negotiations with French-born manager Philippe Troussier who is currently working in Japan, after a short spell at F.C. Ryukyu, a division 3 Japanese club.

French sports radio RMC said the former Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Japan coach would be flying to the capital Malabo in a few days where he will be received by the Head of State, before signing a contract with the FA to manage the Nzalang Nacional.

Troussier, 55, had been rumoured in the last few months to take over African national teams such as Cote d’Ivoire and Algeria, but nothing ever materialised.
