Angola Head Coach Herve Renard Resigns

With Angola's African Nations Cup qualifier against Guinea Bissau only a week away, coach Herve Renard has resigned.
The Angolan national team goes into next week's AFCON qualifier on the wrong foot, following the news that charismatic tactician Renard has left the squad.

According to Angolan daily newspaper Jornal de Angola, Renard tendered in his resignation to Angola Football Federation chief Justino Fernandes.

Fernandes, who gave no reasons for Renards departure, said the Frenchman will be replaced by Zeca Amaral who will be caretaker until a new full time coach is appointed.

The former Zambia coach lost his first Group J game 3-0 away to Uganda on September 4 in Kampala, and perhaps pressure from fans and media added to his decision to leave the former Portuguese colony.

Renard helped Angola secure their debut qualification to next year’s 2011 CAF African Nations Championship finals in Sudan after a 3-1 aggregate win over Malawi.
