Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel and Heartland from Nigeria played out a 0-0 draw in a CAF Champions League Group B match in Sousse on Saturday.
Etoile, who needed to win this game to improve their chancs of qualifying for the last four, have to blame their strikers for wasting chances, particularly in the second half of the match, which kicked off late because of the Muslim Ramadan fasting season.
Heartland won the reverse fixture 3-0 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, south east Nigeria, two weeks ago.
It was also a psychological boost for Nigeria ahead of this weekend's crucial World Cup qualifier against Tunisia in Abuja.
The Nigerian club have thus recorded seven points from four matches and are second in Group B, after DR Congo's TP Mazembe beat Monomotapa of Zimbabwe 2-0 in Harare to put them on nine points and consolidate their leadership of the group.
The Congolese ‘Crows’ won with goals in each half from midfielder Kaluyituka Dioko and Zambia international Given Singuluma.
Etoile are third on the table with four points in as many matches, while Monomotapa are bottom with three matches.
Heartland will now travel to Zimbabwe for their next fixture on September 12, while Mazembe will host Etoile in Lumumbashi on the same weekend.
