Simon Sserunkuma Becomes The Most Expensive Player In The Ugandan Domestic League

Though his transfer fee is tiny when compared to the astronomical amounts paid in Europe, the striker has nonetheless set a record in the local league...
Ugandan Super League transfers may be a world apart from the multi-million pound transfers of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka with the figures clubs like Real Madrid are splashing around, but some Ugandan clubs are also investing millions in local currency to sign the best players ahead of the new season.

Victor's highly-rated forward, Simon Sserunkuma has been signed by SC Villa for a dizzying UShs16m (US$10,000).

The move earns him the tag of the most expensive player in the Ugandan Super League. "It is true we have finalised the deal after both parties agreed on Shs16m," Villa's long serving secretary Edward Luyimbazi Mugalu told The Monitor.

Sserunkuma is seen as a replacement for Steven Bengo, who moved to Simba SC of Tanzania recently.

"We have signed Sserunkuma on a two-and-half year deal. He is a very good player and with him, we shall have a successful season," Villa coach Sula Kato said.
