Newly recruited Algerian Olympic and B team coach Abdelhak Ben Chikha went on Tunisian radio yesterday to explain why he decided to leave Club Africain despite having previously proclaimed that he intended to stay an additional year.
“There was an order to obey, the one to join my country and help the U-23 team prepare for the upcoming Olympics in London. It’s a call of duty,” he explained.
“Meanwhile, my kids will continue their schooling in Tunisia which shows that I never had an intention to leave Club Africain.
“I swear that if it wasn’t my country calling me that I would’ve never left my club. I always said I wanted to go watch a Club Africain match from the stands. Now I’ll be able to realise this wish.”
Ben Chikha also said that he would take great pleasure in speaking with Pierre Lechantre to explain to him in detail how things function at the “Biancorosso” and that he would forever have a special place in his heart for the fans and players who adored him and helped him through difficult times like the passing of his mother earlier this year.
