Amavubi Stars skipper Olivier Karekezi is set for a switch to Egyptian side Al Ahly. According to a Rwandese newspaper, The Times, the Ham Kam attacking midfielder has revealed that a move looks imminent after talks between the two clubs were held.
"Al Ahly have a good offer for Ham Kam to resist. I have also had talks with Al Ahly and the offer looks good," he said.
"I'm sure a deal will be finalised before the end of this month," he added.
The Rwandan national team captain is eager to make the move to the Egyptian giants to revive his competitive edge and form after his Norwegian club suffered relegation to the second division last season.
“It has been difficult playing in the second division but I think I can revive my football if I move to Egypt,” he offered.
The former APR of Rwanda player moved to Ham Kam after spending three seasons with Swedish club Helsingborg IF.
His switch to Al-Ahly, a continental giant and the most successful club in Egypt will be a boost to his career and the national team, particularly at this time the team is struggling to qualify to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
