Roger Lemerre Preparing Morocco Psychologically

The Moroccan national team coach has spent a considerable part of his training time getting the Atlas Lions mentally ready to take on Gabon...
Roger Lemerre has stressed the important role of mental preparation for Morocco’s opening qualifier versus Gabon which will take place in Casablanca today.

The Frenchman is the only coach to have lifted continental titles in both Europe and Africa and is looking to bring his heavy dose of experience gained with France and Tunisia to the Atlas Lions.

“Physical preparation is certainly crucial in such an event but there’s also psychological work that already started since Sunday with the early arriving players. This gives them a general idea on the encounter” explained the trainer to liondelatlas.net.

The coach, who lost one of his main strikers in Nabil Baha, also insisted that the result was of the utmost importance in such a match-up for Morocco to start off on the right foot in order to vie for a World Cup place with group favorites Cameroon.

“My first concern is the result, we have to do everything in order to not perturb the preparations for our second match” said Lemerre.

Morocco takes on Cameroon in Yaounde on June 6 in their second qualifier and will be looking for nothing less than a win against the visiting 'Panthers' of Gabon.
