Toulouse have been the biggest surprise in Ligue 1 this season, securing a number of impressive results on their way to fourth spot in the standings. In addition, Andre-Pierre Gignac, le Tefece’s prime striker, has become Le Championnat’s top marksman.
After a dismal debut season in which he acted as Johan Elmander’s understudy, Gignac, who has scored 16 league goals this year, has been tipped for spot on the national team.
Having hammered neighbours Bordeaux last weekend by beating them 3-0 at Stade Chaban-Delmas, the Toulouse players will travel to the Stade Louis II in Monaco with the aim of confirming their recent impressive form.
But, unfortunately for coach Alain Casanova, he will have to do without defender Albin Ebondo and Guinean international winger Fode Mansare, both of whom are injured. Mansare has a problem with his right thigh and still don’t know how long it will take to heal.
Toulouse are fourth in the standings and could temporarily step onto the podium as they play before all their nearest rivals.
