Esperance have lost top spot in the Tunisia League after a 3-0 thrashing they suffered at the hands of city rivals Club Africain last weekend.
Esperance are now third in the standings with 45 points from 21 matches. Both Club Africain and Etoile du Sahel are on 47 points each.
Faouzi, whose contract with Libya was not renewed after the team failed to advance to the final round of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, will take charge of the 'blood and gold' on Tuesday.
It will be his fourth stint at Esperance. He was also linked with the top coaching job at Club Africain and Club Sportif Sfaxien.
