Nigerian Coach Crash Claims Another Life

The tragic events of Zamfara United’s coach crash continue to unfold as a player passes away while a number of people remain in a critical condition.
The road crash involving Nigeria Premier League (NPL) club Zamfara United has claimed yet another casualty after a player, Abdullahi Sabiu, passed away early on Saturday morning. Sabiu was only recently signed from an amateur side, Badara Academy of Kaduna.

United’s team bus collided head-on with a car around a sharp bend on their way to a league game against Wikki Tourists in the northern town of Gombe on Friday, killing the team’s curator, Ado Umar, instantly. Four of the five passengers in the other vehicle also died.

Meanwhile, several players and officials are now critically injured at the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe.

Top NPL official Tunji Babalola named four players as seriously ill. They are Peter Oneya, Muruf Sulaiman, Hussein Jafar and Hamisu Mohammed.

Head coach Abdulrauf Yusuf, trainer Shehu Dahiru and team manager Isiaka Semen are also in serious condition.
