Niger name final 2012 Africa Cup of Nations squad

The Mena coach has named his final 23-man roster for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations

Niger coach Harouna Douala published his final 23-man squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday. The list is composed of young players aged between 19 and 23 who are mostly based on the continent.

The team began preparations last week in Douala, Cameroon, and will complete their training camp on January 20 before heading for Libreville same day. They will will also honour a couple of friendly matches with local sides in the Cameroonian city.

Douala was named by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) as the Africa's top coach of the year for his work in helping his country qualify for their first ever Afcon. Prior to receiving the honour, the Niger FA hired former Marseille coach Frenchman Rolland Courbis to assist him during the tournament.

Niger have been placed in Group C against co-hosts Gabon, Tunisia and Morocco.
