Official: APOEL Sign Ailton Almeida From Copenhagen

The Brazilian striker will ply his trade in Cyprus next term...
Europa League hopefuls APOEL have completed the transfer of Brazilian attacker Ailton Almeida from Danish giants Copenhagen for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old attacker has signed a contract until the summer of 2013 at his new club.

APOEL missed out on the Cypriot league title last term and head coach Ivan Jovanovic is determined to add to his ranks this summer in order to make sure they're serious contenders for the domestic title again in the new season.

Ailton Almeida played for Atletico MG, Tupi, Corinthians and Ogryte before joining Copenhagen in the summer of 2007. He had since developed into a key player in the Danish capital and won three league titles and one Danish Cup with the Copenhagen side.

The striker will link up with two other Brazilian summer signings, William Boaventura and Gustavo Manduca, at APOEL.
