The midfielder damaged his meniscus during the first training session of 2009 and further examination on Thursday confirmed that he has suffered meniscus damage.
The Hungarian international will now return to Berlin from the club's winter training camp in Marbella, where he will be operated on by Dr. Gert Schleicher.
In other Hertha news, www.herthabsc.de is reporting that promising Serbian midfielder Darko Lazovic is expected to undergo a trial period with the club. Should the 18-year-old Borac Cacak standout impress, they will fancy their chances of getting a good deal on him as he shares an agent with Hertha coach Lucien Favre.
The capital club will reignite their title charge against Eintracht Frankfurt on January 31.
