Totti: Cassano my best Roma team-mate

The Giallorossi legend identified the likes of Vincenzo Montella and Gabriel Batistuta among his most important team-mates but says one stands out above the rest

Francesco Totti has named Antonio Cassano as his best team-mate in his 24 years with Roma.

Pogba tells Mourinho: Let me attack!

Totti, now 40 years old, made his debut in the Italian capital at 16 and has since set club records in appearances (764) and goals (306).

The World Cup winner played alongside Cassano between 2001 and 2006 and in the 2003-04 season they combined for 34 goals in Serie A.

When asked to name the best player he had worked with, Totti told Corriere dello Sport: "Technically Cassano, because we conversed with each other on the field and could find each other at any moment.

"I had a great rapport with him off the pitch too, we were in total sync.

"We are talking about not just one of the best players in Italy, but in Europe, because in terms of talent alone he is a phenomenon.

Why Tottenham are the best team in England

"Then there's Gabriel Batistuta, Vincenzo Montella, those players who made football history.

"They should be remembered because it was a pleasure to watch them and I was fortunate enough to play alongside them too."
