Arda: Playing well is good enough for Arsenal, not Barca

Arda Turan has revealed that playing for a club like Barcelona is fitting reward for his performances over recent seasons - otherwise, he asserts, he would be starring for a club like Arsenal

The Turkey international had to wait for his debut due to the club's transfer ban, but has made an instant impression since breaking into the first-team earlier this year.

And Arda claims that only the very best succeed at Camp Nou, with those of a lesser level more likely to end up in north London.

"I felt that I would sign for Barca. In all honesty I used to think, 'If I play very well I will end up signing for Barca, because my style fits into this team," he told Diari Ara

"'If I play well, I will end up at Arsenal'.

"Because of my style with the ball, playing simple, short, aggressively when needs be, but above all with high quality, I knew that I could make it at Barcelona."

The ex-Atletico Madrid man also had high praise for Lionel Messi, who has been in scintillating form so far this year.

"Everything about him is incredible, he is so quick to do everything, controlling, dribbling, he goes for it," he explained.

"But his greatest trait is his tactical intelligence. It is amazing, better than all else. He is a very intelligent footballer.

"Is Messi's presence worth signing for? No. I am here to win the Champions League. Leo, for me, is the greatest player in history but I am here to win titles."
