Vargas Signs For Fiorentina

Fiorentina have signed Juan Manuel Vargas from Sicilian club Catania according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.
The Catania magician has been linked with a move to the Florence based club all season and he was close to joining La Viola during the January transfer window.

Real Madrid had also shown an interest in the versatile player but his heart has been set on Fiorentina.

Corriere Dello Sport has revealed that Vargas has put pen to paper on Wednesday night and that Catania will earn €12m from his sale to Andrea Della Valle’s club.

The Peruvian winger has signed a five year deal and he will earn €900,000 per season plus performance related bonuses. There were fears that the deal between both clubs would fall apart but they have now reached an agreement and the transfer is likely to be announced within the next few days.

Vargas was outstanding for Catania last season and his excellent performances ensured his side managed to cheat what seemed like certain relegation.

He is the latest arrival in Cesare Prandelli’s multi-talented squad as the former Parma coach continues to strengthen his side ahead of next season’s big Champions League commitments.
