An unconfirmed report by British tabloid newspaper The Sun has revealed in the last few minutes that Wilson Palacios has left Wigan Wthletic and joined Tottenham Hotspur in a £14 million deal.
A 'Tottenham insider' has apparently informed the newspaper that Palacios has signed today, after Spurs manager Harry Redknapp had confirmed earlier that his club were discussing personal terms with the player, as reported by Goal.com.
The source is quoted by The Sun as saying: "A deal has been agreed with Wilson. He’s now a Spurs player."
The transfer fee means that Wigan boss Steve Bruce has collected an astounding profit on the £1 million he invested in the, at the time, little-known midfielder whom he has compared in the past to 'a young Paul Ince'.
Spurs had their initial £10 million bid turned down by Wigan last week, but upped their offer after reports appeared also linking Spanish giants Real Madrid and German titans Bayern Munich with the player.
