The FEF (Ecuadorian Football Federation) have confirmed that they've appointed Colombian coach Reinaldo Rueda as the new man in charge of the country's national side. The FEF are hopeful that Rueda will guide Ecuador to the 2014 World Cup finals.
Ecuador were in the market for a new head coach following the departure of caretaker boss Sixto Vizuete earlier this summer.
Rueda previously worked as head coach of Honduras' national side. He managed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup with the Catrachos, but they were eliminated in the group stage of this summer's tournament.
The 53-year-old Colombian opted to step down as Honduras coach just a week ago, but didn't waste any time in finding a new job.
Ecuador missed out on the 2010 World Cup, but La Tri did make it to the 2002 and 2006 World Cups. Their round of 16 appearance four years ago is their best performance so far.
