River Plate's Erik Lamela A Target For Atletico Madrid - Report

Atletico Madrid want Erik Lamela as Sergio Aguero's replacement, and could offer up to €18m for the River Plate teenager...
River Plate prodigy Erik Lamela is reportedly a target for Atletico Madrid, who are lining up a replacement for Argentine star Sergio Aguero in case 'El Kun' seeks a move elsewhere.

Ole reports that the Colchoneros, who have been rattled by Diego Maradona's assertion that he sees his son-in-law Aguero playing for bitter rivals Real Madrid in the near future, have already started talking to the 18-year-old and the investment group which represents his interests, IMG, and would be disposed to offer some €18 million to bring the youngster to Spain.

There are doubts however over whether club president Daniel Passarella would accept the bid, having maintained that he would hold out for €20m when turning down Milan's approach in 2010. Despite the 'Kaiser's reticience though it is looking increasingly likely that Lamela will be playing in Europe from June 2011.
