Diego Maradona Declared Persona Non Grata At Real Madrid After 'Pre-Jose Mourinho' Comments

Diego Maradona has reportedly been declared an unwelcome presence around Real Madrid, after senior officials of the Liga giants took offence to comments the football legend made last week concerning the club.

Telam reports that president Florentino Perez and close ally Jorge Valdano were furious at an interview given by Diego to Portuguese television last week praising Jose Mourinho in which he said that Madrid "was a free-for-all" before Mourinho arrived and that the Inter boss "instilled order" in the squad. Valdano also enjoys less than friendly relations wiith the ex-Argentina boss in a dispute that dates back years.

For these reasons, and despite the recent friendship and mutual praise shown between the two coaches, the word is around Madrid that the less 'El Pelusa' is around to distract Mourinho and the team the better, even more so after the Blancos' punishing 5-0 reverse on Monday at the hands of Barcelona.
