High Security Measures Taken For Superclasico

The superclasico between Boca Juniors and River Plate is regarded as being one of the most high-risk match-ups in world football, and because of the intense rivalry high security measures are necessary.

Because of the ongoing violence associated with Argentine football, a total of 1,100 police officers will be on duty to prevent violence during the most highly anticipated clash of the Clausura Championship.

Boca will host River, and the fact that the match will be staged at the Bombonera stadium, which is located in the poor Boca district, means that no risks will be taken.

The gates of the stadium will open at 11:30am and, as is always said for these kinds of events, the authorities recommend fans to arrive at the stadium as early as possible.

An early 3pm kick-off was decided, in order to decrease the risk of violence in and outside of the stadium.

Security measures will begin as early as from 6am, and they will end several hours after the match has ended.
