Scolari not giving up on Diego Costa

The Atletico forward seemed destined to represent Spain in the future, but his country of birth remains hopeful that he will play for the Selecao
Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has suggested that he could call up Diego Costa for the upcoming friendlies against Honduras and Chile as the uncertainty over the Atletico Madrid striker's international future continues.

The 25-year-old has allegedly decided to represent Spain at international level after previously featuring for Brazil, but Scolari refuses to give up on the prolific attacker just yet, although he has insisted that it's solely up to him whether to pick Costa or not.

"I have the legal authority and freedom to call him up whenever I think I should do so and no-one else," Scolari told Globoesporte.

"Nobody can decide if he’s going to be called up or not except me and I’m thinking of giving him a call-up.

"A player who has played in two friendlies for Brazil shouldn’t play with another national team."

Costa made his Brazil debut in the friendly against Italy earlier this year, but can still switch allegiances as he has yet to feature for the Selecao in a competitive game.
