Brazilian playmaker Alex Meschini appears to be on his way out of Russian outfit Spartak Moscow, as Corinthians sporting director Edu has revealed that his club are close to signing the 29-year-old.
"We will not make any official statements until Sunday, even if the deal is completed. I cannot say that Alex is already our player, but we are close to signing a contract with him," Edu was quoted as saying by Sovetsky Sport.
Spartak Moscow have set a €7 million asking price for their star midfielder, but Corinthians are so far reluctant to pay more than €6m for the former Internacional creator.
Alex is happy with life on the pitch at Spartak, but struggles with the freezing weather in Russia and could therefore decide to return to South America.
"Corinthians are really interested in me, but it does not mean that they have already bought me. I like everything here in Moscow, I have been appointed captain, we have a good team. The only thing I cannot get used to are the low temperatures."
