Ecuador star Luis Bolanos, who lifted the Copa Libertadores with Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito last year, has been confirmed as the latest incorporation of Internacional of Porto Alegre.
"Inter are a great team, they have demanding fans and I hope to earn their respect," an excited Bolanos told radio Bandeirantes.
The 24-year-old joined Santos in January, after helping Liga de Quito to second-place in the FIFA Club World Cup when they lost 1-0 to Manchester United in the final, but he was provided with limited opportunities at the Paulista club.
Bolanos affirmed to the press that he didn't understand the reason why he wasn't taken into consideration by Santos boss Vagner Mancini, despite having agreed to a three-year contract.
According to the local press, Bolanos will arrive in Porto Alegre on Tuesday to finalise some minor details pertaining to his new contract with the club from the Beira-Rio stadium.
Internacional kicked off the 2009 Brazilian championship with a 1-0 victory over Corinthians in Sao Paulo on Sunday.
