Pressure Increases On Valery Karpin As Spartak Moscow Lose Again

The 41-year-old is unable to steady the ship....

Spartak Moscow remain stuck in mid-table in the Russian Premier League after losing 1-0 to defending champions Rubin Kazan at home on Saturday.

A Cristian Noboa goal as early as the fourth minute was enough for the Tatars to bag maximum points at the Luzhniki Stadium. It was Alexander Bukharov's final game as a Rubin player as he makes the switch to current league leaders Zenit St. Petersburg for €12 million.

The win kept Rubin third in the league table with 23 points from 12 matches, 10 points off the pace. It also maintained their brilliant defensive record: Kurban Berdyev's side have conceded just three goals in the league so far.

Spartak continue to struggle under coach Valery Karpin and are now eighth in the table with just 15 points from 12 matches. Spartak also had Fedor Kudryashov sent off in the dying minutes of the game.
