Inter's Wesley Sneijder withdraws from Netherlands squad for Brazil & Uruguay friendlies

The gifted playmaker is not fully match fit after a brief injury lay-off and will not travel to South America with Oranje
Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk will have to make do without the services of playmaker Wesley Sneijder in the upcoming international friendlies against Brazil on June 4 and Uruguay four days later.

The Inter star has decided to withdraw from the Oranje squad for their trip to South America because of his ongoing muscular problems.

Sneijder spent the past few weeks on the sidelines before returning to match action in Sunday's 3-1 Coppa Italia final win over Palermo. Nevertheless, he is not fully match fit and has therefore decided to stay at home.

The withdrawal of Sneijder is yet another blow for Van Marwijk in the build-up toward the pair of matches against Copa America combatants.

Mark van Bommel, Rafael van der Vaart, Maarten Stekelenburg, Theo Janssen, Jeremain Lens, Michel Vorm and Demy de Zeeuw have all previously withdrawn due to injury.
