David Beckham pays tribute to Robbie Keane

David Beckham has paid tribute to Robbie Keane following the announcement of the Irishman's international retirement.

On Wednesday Keane announced that he is retiring from international football and that his last game for the Republic of Ireland would be in the friendly against Oman on August 31.

And Beckham, who played alongside Keane at LA Galaxy, was among the many to pay tribute to the Dublin native.

In an Instagram post, the former England captain said: "145 caps , 67 goals .. Passion and love for the game especially when playing for his country.

"Doesn't matter where he plays he scores goals.. Sad to see Keano retiring from Ireland but this last game [on Wednesday] should be a huge celebration.. Congrats mate."
