Azpilicueta: We must go to France to win

The Chelsea full-back believes maximum points at the Stade de France will be crucial to their bid to qualify for Brazil 2014 automatically

Spain right-back Cesar Azpilicueta insists his side must aim for victory in Tuesday’s qualifier against France following a surprise draw 1-1 by Finland on Friday.

La Roja sit two points adrift of les Bleus heading in to the Paris clash, and the Chelsea defender has stressed the importance of taking maximum points as they look to secure their place at Brazil 2014.

"We are obliged to take all three points to qualify; we must come here to win," he told RTL.

"We still have the mentality to win matches.”

The 23-year-old, who spent two years with Olympique de Marseille prior to moving to Stamford Bridge last summer, believes that France are a much stronger side to the one who lost to Spain in the Euro 2012 quarter-finals.

“France have gained momentum since Euro 2012. They are a great team," he added.

France currently sit on top of Group I after their 3-1 win over Georgia last week.
