Italy U-21 Excel Past USA

Sebastian Giovinco has for the second game in a row proved himself to be the hero of the Azzurrini, but overall it was a fine team showing that saw Italy past their American U-21 counterparts...
Wins over the Ivory Coast and Turkey had sealed their place in the final-four of the Toulon Tournament, but Pierluigi Casiraghi’s men were not prepared to rest on their laurels in their final group game.

Goals from AC Milan’s Ignazio Abate and Parma’s Daniele Dessena handed Italy a two-goal advantage which never looked threatened, with Siena’s Daniele Galloppa going close to adding a third in the second-half.

Though he was unable to add his name to the scoresheet, Juventus-owned playmaker Sebastian Giovinco was one of the stars of the show as he once again displayed the flair that has made him one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Italy.

Italy will now face Japan in the semi-finals of the competition on Tuesday 27th May.
