Nihat Kahveci is ready to turn his back on Besiktas and abandon Turkish football altogether after arguing with Ricardo Quaresma then losing his cool with a journalist following the 1-1 draw with Konyaspor at the weekend.
The 31-year-old striker who has not scored this season, had a row with Quaresma during the game, but despite the interventions of Manuel Fernandes and Simao Sabrosa, the situation was far from stable, and deteriorated after Nihat clashed with Turgay Demir, a local journalist.
Nihat told the local press he wanted to quit football in Turkey following the latest setbacks with Besiktas eight points behind in the race for a European place.
"I don't want to play football in Turkey anymore," he said.
Serdal Adali, a manager for the Besiktas Football committee told Lig TV the Turkish international is keen on leaving.
"Nihat's manager Murat Kus explained the national team forward wants to go to another club two weeks ago. The incident in the Konyaspor clash, will not affect transfer negotiations. But if Nihat wants to leave, the board will allow him to go," Adali said.
Besiktas welcome Galatasaray this weekend.
