Vitesse have completed the transfer of Tomas Kalas from Chelsea. The Eredivisie outfit have revealed on their official website that the 18-year-old defender has signed a one-year loan deal.

The centre-back joined Chelsea from Sigma Olomouc in the summer of 2010 and was immediately farmed out on loan to his old club last term.

Kalas, who has been capped at Under-19 level for Czech Republic, will now be looking to gain valuable first-team experience in the Dutch top flight.

The defender follows in the footsteps of players such as Matej Delac, Slobodan Rajkovic and Nemanja Matic, who all left Chelsea for one-year loan deals at Vitesse a year ago before returning to London this summer.

Meanwhile, Vitesse have also secured the services of Ghana international Anthony Annan from Schalke on a one-year loan deal with an option to make the move permanent next summer.

The Arnhem outfit stated on Wednesday that they had reached an agreement with Schalke about a summer transfer, but that they had yet to agree personal terms with Annan. The Gelsenkirchen side announced shortly afterwards that the 25-year-old holding midfielder had completed his move to the Gelredome club.

Annan moved to Schalke from Rosenborg in January 2011, but has since failed to secure regular first-team football at the Bundesliga outfit. Therefore, he has now decided to move on in order to relaunch his career in the Eredivisie.
