AZ have completed the transfer of right-winger Roy Beerens from Heerenveen for an undisclosed fee. The attacker has signed a contract until the summer of 2015 with the Alkmaar outfit.

AZ were eager to add another winger to their squad and head coach Gertjan Verbeek has now found his man in the 23-year-old Beerens.

"AZ are a step forward for me. They play attacking football and that suits me. I have worked with Verbeek before and he made me a better player back then," Beerens was quoted as saying on the official AZ website.

Beerens is a product of the PSV youth academy, but never really managed to secure regular first team action in Eindhoven. He also wore the jersey of NEC before joining Heerenveen in the summer of 2007.

He made his debut for Netherlands' senior side in last year's 1-1 friendly draw against Ukraine.

The winger could make his Eredivisie debut for AZ in next weekend's match at home against NEC, which can be seen live at www.livedutcheredivisie.tv.
