Ajax have sent a signal to title rivals - Frank de Boer

The Amsterdam side's head coach was notably pleased with the win over De Graafschap, singling out his club's second-half performance in particular
Ajax coach Frank de Boer voiced his satisfaction with the Amsterdam side's 4-1 away win over De Graafschap on matchday one of the 2011-12 Eredivisie campaign. Highlights of the victory can be seen at www.livedutcheredivisie.tv.

The reigning champions now sit atop the table following their superb start, and De Boer was understandably happy with the signal they have sent to other potential league challengers.

"We wanted to send a signal to the other title candidates and we've done just that. Perhaps we could have scored a few more goals, but I have nothing to complain about," De Boer said to Eredivisie Live.

"We looked pretty good after the interval and showed that we're capable of playing some quality football. It's now important to keep up the good work and make sure we can maintain that level for the full 90 minutes in the future."

Last year's runners-up Twente recorded a narrow 1-0 win over NAC courtesy of a Marc Janko strike, while rivals PSV were beaten 3-1 by AZ.
