Danish champions Copenhagen have turned down PSV's €3 million offer for centre-back Mathias 'Zanka' Jorgensen as they are holding out for a higher fee for the defender, Sporten reports.
The Eredivisie outfit are in the market for a new defender because of the expected departure of Mexican centre-back Francisco 'Maza' Rodriguez and sporting director Marcel Brands reportedly sees Jorgensen as an ideal replacement.
The 21-year-old defender has a contract until the summer of 2012 with Copenhagen and is said to be keen on moving to a bigger league. However, his current club and are unwilling to lose the player and haven't given up hope that the Denmark international will sign a new deal.
PSV have been active on the transfer market in the past couple of days as they secured the services of Utrecht duo Kevin Strootman and Dries Mertens on Sunday before adding Georginio Wijnaldum from Feyenoord to their squad the next day.
'Zanka' would be reunited with former team-mate Atiba Hutchinson if he moves to PSV this summer. The Canada international left Copenhagen for Eindhoven in the summer of 2010.
