Twente make formal approach for Feyenoord's Leroy Fer - report

Leroy Fer could be on his way out of fallen Eredivisie giants Feyenoord this summer as Twente have made a formal approach for the Dutch international, according to Sportwereld.

The KNVB Beker winners are in the market for a new midfielder following the departure of Theo Janssen to Ajax earlier this summer and they see the 21-year-old Fer as the perfect addition to their roster.

Fer has a contract until the summer of 2012 with Feyenoord and the holding midfielder is hesitant to sign a new deal. Therefore, the Rotterdam side could decide to cash in on Fer now as Twente are keen to lure him to Enschede.

Fer has also been linked with Fiorentina and Napoli, but neither side have made an offer yet.

The highly rated midfielder is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy and has made 99 Eredivisie appearances so far.
