KNVB general secretary Harry Been has confirmed that the Netherlands are interested in hosting the UEFA European Championships in 2020.
After missing out on a joint bid with Belgium to host the 2018 World Cup, which was eventually awarded to Russia, Been has said they will consider making a move to host Euro 2020.
"The Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) will consider becoming a candidate," he told the press.
The Netherlands hosted Euro 2000 alongside Belgium, when the Dutch reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Amsterdam before losing on penalties to Italy.
Been however believes the country will be able to host the tournament without assistance from their neighbours.
"The Netherlands would only be able to organize the European Championship, and maybe we want it all," he added.
"However, we have always done business with Belgium and we would be extremely pleased [to do so again]."
The host nation for the 2020 European Championship is expected to be announced in 2014.
