According to several reports from Switzerland, Eredivisie giants Ajax have beaten Juventus to the signature of promising youngster Stefan Marinkovic. The young defender has left Swiss side Luzern for a place in the illustrious Ajax youth academy.
The 16-year-old full-back, who can also play as a centre-back, is considered to be one of the most promising youngsters around in Switzerland.
"There are still a few details that have to be taken care of, but we are happy for him that he's set to move to Ajax. We won't do anything that could frustrate the deal. We feel honoured that a club like Ajax want one of our youngsters," said Luzern spokesman Stefan Bucher to 20 Minuten.
Marinkovic initially appeared to be on his way to Juventus, but he has now decided to join Ajax instead. Clubs such as Sampdoria, Brescia, Nancy, Leeds United and Arsenal were also interested in signing the versatile youngster.
It's not the first time that Ajax have lured a promising youngster from abroad to the Amsterdam ArenA. They previously signed Danish youngsters Nicolai Boilesen and Christian Eriksen.
