Serie A side Napoli failed to complete the transfer of Groningen striker Tim Matavz during the winter transfer window, but recent reports from Italy suggested that the Slovenia international would still move to the Partenopei in the summer.
Groningen sporting director Hans Nijland has now made it clear that an agreement between both clubs is still far away though and that reports claiming that it's a done deal are premature.
"It's correct that Tim has already agreed personal terms with Napoli. He can sign a five-year deal with them if we agree a transfer fee and he's really looking forward to joining Napoli," said Nijland to Voetbal International.
"However, we haven't been in touch with any of Napoli's representatives in the past few days. Tim's agent claims that it's just a matter of details before it's a done deal, but I disagree with him about that.
"It's more than just details. We haven't made an appointment to wrap up the deal so we'll have to wait and see. We would obviously like to hold on to Tim for a few more seasons, but there's little doubt that he wants to move to Napoli."
