Eredivisie side Vitesse have completed the transfer of young midfielder Marti Riverola from Spanish champions Barcelona on a loan deal. The 19-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the season with his new club.
The Arnhem side have been in rather disappointing form this season and sit only 15th in the league table at the moment. Therefore, head coach Albert Ferrer was eager to add some fresh blood to his squad in January.
The Vitesse gaffer had initially set his sights on Thiago Alcantara, but Barcelona were reluctant to let go of the Spain under-21 starlet.
Ferrer then turned his attention to Riverola and the Catalans agreed to sign the attacking midfielder out on loan until the end of the season.
Riverola is a product of the Barcelona youth academy, but the promising younster has yet to make his first team debut at the Blaugranas.
