Feyenoord Defender Ron Vlaar Sidelined For Six Weeks

Feyenoord defender Ron Vlaar will be unavailable for about six weeks due to injury.
Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord have received some disturbing news from the treatment table in the aftermath of their disappointing 2-1 home loss against domestic rivals Ajax on Sunday.

Head coach Mario Been will have to make do without the services of Dutch international Ron Vlaar as the highly rated defender picked up a hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined for a while.

Vlaar sustained the injury after a duel with Ajax goalie Maarten Stekelenburg minutes before the interval and was forced to leave the pitch due to the knock.

The former AZ star has now undergone further examination and a scan has revealed that Vlaar has a slight tear in his right hamstring. A report on the official Feyenoord website reads that the centre-back will be unavailable for around six weeks as a result.

The Rotterdam side are being plagued by injury problems at the back this term. Dani Fernandez and Bart Schenkeveld are both expected to miss the majority of the season due to injury. Additionally, Bruno Martins Indi is still unavailable due to suspension.
