Eredivisie giants PSV have confirmed the capture of experienced defender Wilfred Bouma on a free transfer. The highly rated centre back has signed a two-year deal with the Eindhoven side.
PSV were in the market for defensive reinforcements because of the departure of Mexican defender Carlos Salcido to Fulham earlier this month and head coach Fred Rutten considers Bouma to be the perfect replacement.
The 32-year-old previously enjoyed a successful spell with PSV from 1994 to 2006. Bouma then left the Dutch powerhouse for an adventure at Aston Villa. He was a free agent since being released by Villa earlier this summer.
Bouma had already trained with PSV over the past couple of weeks, but didn't sign a contract with the Eindhoven side until Sunday.
The former Dutch international could make his debut for PSV in the Eredivisie game at home against NEC on September 11.
