Eredivisie powerhouse PSV have made the decision to part company with promising attacker Jonathan Reis after the Brazilian starlet tested positive of forbidden substances.

Reis returned five days too late from his holiday in Brazil after the winter break and was far from fit upon his return to training. Therefore, PSV opted to test the 20-year-old.

Tests indicated that Reis had used forbidden substances and the attacker refused any form of help from PSV. Therefore, the Eindhoven side decided to fire Reis with immediate effect.

"This is a hard, but inevitable decision. We have discussed the situation of Jonathan Reis for several hours and we came to the conclusion that we had no other option, but to let go of him," said PSV director Jan Reker on the club's official website.

"The club has done its utmost to help Jonathan's career back on track this season and head coach Fred Rutten has invested a lot of time in him. Nevertheless, his efforts didn't lead to the desired result."

Reis joined PSV from Atletico Mineiro in 2007 and got his fair share of attention following his unprofessional behaviour. The young attacker appeared to have gotten his career back on track this season, but Reis' career could now very well have come to an abrupt end.
